Sometimes, after evaluating the site of your implant, it is determined that your jawbone isn’t quite thick enough or is too soft to support an implant. Since the jaw creates an immense amount of pressure, it may need to be strengthened with a bone graft. A bone graft is a surgical procedure by which a piece of bone is extracted from another part of your jaw or body and layered onto the thin or soft area that needs extra support. After this heals, you can proceed with the regular steps of the implant. Our oral surgeons are skilled at bone grafting and can consult with you on the details of your surgery after a proper evaluation.
